Fellowships
Are you interested in a sponsored fellowship at Inner City Law Center? We enthusiastically encourage project proposals combining litigation or advocacy with community outreach, public education, and other needed services related to housing and homelessness. We have successfully sponsored Skadden, AmeriCorps, and Equal Justice Works fellowship candidates with projects related to our core practice areas.
Fellowship candidates should:
- Have strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- Be self-motivated and able to manage a variety of tasks
- Have strong academic performance
- Have an established knowledge of, or interest in, the proposed practice area
- Be bright, passionate, and a hardworking team player
- Be committed to Inner City Law Center’s clients, mission, and values
Inner City Law Center staff work closely with selected candidates to develop their final fellowship proposal.
ICLC Post-Graduate Fellowships
Help Inner City Law Center end homelessness through legal advocacy. Are you a current 3L or recent law school graduate?
Apply for ICLC’s Housing Justice Post-Graduate Fellowship or Equal Justice Works, Skadden, Soros Justice Fellowship. Interested individuals should send a cover letter, resume, transcript, three references, and writing sample to Vidhya Ragunathan, Director of Pro Bono at ICLC (vragunathan@innercitylaw.org) using the subject line: Housing Justice Fellowship, or using the subject line: ICLC-Sponsored Fellowship for EWSSJF. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Internships
Throughout the year, interns play a critical role in supporting our operations and core practice areas. We work with undergraduate and law student interns from colleges and universities throughout the country during three sessions each year: Fall (August-November), Winter/Spring (January-April), and Summer (May-July).
Law Student and Graduate Internships
Law students and recent graduates gain practical experience in our core practice areas by engaging in legal research and writing, client interviews, negotiations, public policy advocacy, and other client-related work. During the Fall and Winter/Spring sessions, students must commit a minimum of 16 hours per week for at least 12 weeks. During the Summer session, students must commit a minimum of 35 hours per week for at least 10 weeks.
Homeful.LA Internships
Homeful.LA is an initiative of Inner City Law Center (ICLC). Homeful.LA is a volunteer website that provides Angelenos an opportunity to donate their time, resources and voices to tackle homelessness in Los Angeles. Communications and Web Development Interns will help to enhance Homeful.LA’s online profile and reputation, implement improvements to our website, expand our influence on social media, and handle on-boarding for new partners and volunteers.
Undergraduate Volunteers
Undergraduate students assist attorneys, paralegals, and project managers in our ongoing efforts to end homelessness. This includes helping with current cases or projects, providing direct assistance to clients, and supporting our communications and outreach efforts. During the Fall and Winter/Spring sessions, students must commit a minimum of 16 hours per week for at least 12 weeks. During the Summer session, students must commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week for at least 10 weeks.
Application & Deadlines
ICLC is currently looking for bright and dedicated law student and undergraduate interns to work with our organization.
- Winter/Spring Internships – Application period begins in November of the prior year.
- Summer Internships – Application period begins January 1 of the same year.
- Fall Internships – Application period begins June 1 of the same year.
