Become a Sustaining Donor

Sustaining our Work for a Brighter Tomorrow!
Become an Inner City Law Center Sustaining Donor

For many of our clients, Inner City Law Center is the difference between having housing and becoming homeless. For 25 years, we have been on the front lines in the battle against homelessness and poverty.  For 25 years, we have had the support of countless donors and friends, whose contributions have enabled this work to continue.

Inner City Law Center relies on the generosity of individual donors—people like you!  The support of private individuals sustains and strengthens our critical services which help bring fair housing and justice to thousands of people every year.

We are pleased to announce our Sustaining Donor Program, which will allow our friends and supporters to make an important gift to Inner City all year long. Sustaining Donors make a commitment—in easy monthly payments—to support ICLC programs.

By making a commitment as a Sustaining Donor, you will make a direct impact on our most important programs—especially our work in fighting slumlords on behalf of the city’s most vulnerable populations.

Sustaining Donors are donors who make a pledge or contribution of $600 or more annually to Inner City Law Center.  Payments can be made once a year, or through a number of payments via Credit Card, or directly from a bank account with a participating institution.  The pledge process is easy and payments can be spread over the year or made all at once, whichever is easier.

The impact of making a sustaining contribution is remarkable.  These contributions allow our programs to flourish while allowing us to respond immediately to the changing needs of our clients.  No gift is more flexible, more reliable, or more important than a sustaining gift.  As a sustaining donor you will know that your contribution is being put right to work were it is needed most—at the heart of the Inner City!

No matter how much you can afford to give, consider making a commitment today.  We will put it to work tomorrow.

You can become a Sustaining Donor today by calling Brian Davis, Development Officer, at (213) 891-2880 ext 221.

5th Annual Awards Luncheon on May 19, 2005

Inner City Law Center Honors Bruce Iwasaki and Skid Row Housing Trust

Inner City Law Center held its popular Awards Luncheon on May 19, 2005.  This year’s event had more than 200 guests and was held at the Center at Cathedral Plaza’s Ballroom.

ICLC recognized the commitment of those who work hard for the community we serve.  This year we presented the Humanitarian Award to Bruce Iwasaki, longtime Executive Director of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles.  The Katharine Krause Award—which is presented to those working in the heart of our client population—was presented to the Skid Row Housing Trust.

Nearly $100,000 was raised to support the critical programs and services of ICLC.  For more information, please call Brian Davis at (213) 891-2880 ext 221.

Kids Should Be Kids... All Year Long

More than 100 children attend Inner City Law Center's Annual Holiday Party

Every year, the Board of Directors and staff host a fun-filled event for the children represented by the Inner City Law Center: the Annual Kids Should Be Kids Party.

Originally started when ICLC realized that the holidays are tough for children who don’t have much of a home for Santa Claus to visit, the Party has been a huge success every year.

This year, the children were treated to special games—about a dozen pińatas were in shambles after the party—and crafts, lunch and a special guest from the North Pole!  Santa brought hundreds of presents and his ICLC “elves” and a number of volunteers helped distribute the holiday cheer.  And we didn’t forget the parents while they watched the little ones in the “moon bounce.”  Each family received grocery store certificates helping them afford a nice holiday dinner.

The Kids Should Be Kids Party reminds us all that many of those living in sub-standard conditions are the most vulnerable—the children!  ICLC makes sure they get star treatment at least once a year. Special thanks to those who made this event possible including City Councilman Ed Reyes, who helped provide transportation, the Los Angeles Police Academy, Trader Joe’s Silver Lake, Sanrio, Hasbro, the law offices of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, our many wonderful volunteers, and members of the Board of Directors, especially Mike Cobo, Daniel Colimon, Tom Freiberg, Sharon Hartmann, and Dorothy Wolpert.  And as always, to the many people who responded to our annual letter appeal raising more than $47,000 for ICLC, a portion of which supported this wonderful event.
